Jonathan Hillmale - President
|
Jonathan was born in Leicester, England in 1954, and was educated and lived in England before immigrating to the USA in 1987. Jonathan and his wife, June, married in 1987 and they now have three sons, Jacob, James and Jesse. Jonathan is a naturalized US citizen, and he and his family have lived in Spring Grove since 1998. The three boys are all pupils in the area schools. Jonathan also has a 24-year-old son who graduated from Manchester University in England.
Jonathan worked for an English trucking and rigging company for 14 years, starting straight from school. When he immigrated in 1987 he joined a German based global transportation and logistics company, Schenker, and has now been with them for 20 years, working mainly in sales- and account- management.
Jonathan’s pastimes include soccer (he still plays in an old boys league), sports and fitness generally, skiing, gardening, and reading. He is also an enthusiastic Bears fan.
Jonathan and his family moved to Spring Grove in large part because they were impressed with the high quality of public school education that was available to their children here. They have been concerned to see standards threatened in recent years, and Jonathan joined NEF to try to do something to reverse this trend, which he considers the result of a flawed system for financing education in Illinois. He sees NEF as a long-term means to supplement education financing, allowing the local community to provide benefit to the schools, through non-partisan financial assistance, without the involvement of external influences. Jonathan is very impressed with the level of involvement and volunteer commitment that has come from the community, and believes that NEF can be a major success and contributor for many years to come.
